Story on Hart Left Out Other Half of Equation

Re “Mr. Hart’s Teachable Moment,” Nov. 19:

I am a 14-year-old freshman at Kennedy High School in Sacramento, and I am in the Program for Accelerated Education. I have read your recent article about PACE and noticed that the focus is entirely on the history part of the program and former state Education Secretary Gary K. Hart, who teaches that part of PACE. Hart is a tremendous asset to our program, but he’s only half of the reason why it’s so good. The English half of the program, taught by Richard Johnson, is inspiring and exciting students like me to challenge ourselves, too. I never thought I’d say this, but I actually look forward to going to this class every day.
