Books by Gores selling slowly
Al Gore and wife Tipper continue their book tour promoting “Joined at the Heart,” a book about the American family, and its coffee-table companion, “The Spirit of Family.” The couple have been in Time magazine and appeared on several TV talk shows in connection with their books, but readers, it seems, aren’t as interested as the media.
The books have had a disappointing debut, according to the Washington Post. But, as former Gore campaign press secretary Chris Lehane told the Post, “as long as Justice Scalia -- Judge Grinch -- does not have the Supreme Court rule that the Gores’ book cannot be a stocking stuffer for the holidays, I am sure it will do well. Also, Bush should like the Gore picture book -- with all the photos, it is right up his alley.”
