Carson Rolls Past Banning
Sophomore quarterback Boneigh Napoleon threw five touchdown passes, three of them to receiver Greg Chatman, as Carson clinched the Marine League title and a likely top-three seeding in next week’s City Section playoffs with a 61-22 victory over Wilmington Banning on Thursday night at Gardena High.
Napoleon, who shares time with junior Beau Davis, completed six of eight passes for 163 yards. He threw scoring passes of 17, 36 and 61 yards to Chatman, 29 yards to Kevin McCall and five yards to Robert Miller. Davis also threw a nine-yard scoring pass to Jonathan Johnson.
Carson (8-2, 5-0) scored 55 consecutive points after Banning’s Patrick Perry ran for an 11-yard touchdown and a two-point conversion for an 8-0 lead.
Perry ran for a career-high 347 yards and touchdowns of 53 and four yards, both late in the fourth quarter, in 33 carries as Banning fell to 4-6, 2-3 in league.
