Blaze Badly Damages Home; Family Unhurt
From Times Staff Reports
Two adults and a child escaped injury early Tuesday when flames gutted their Coto de Caza home, causing about $400,000 in damage, officials said.
The fire began in the garage of the home at 16 Eastridge and quickly spread to the roof, said Capt. Steve Miller of the Orange County Fire Authority.
Firefighters saved one of the family’s cats, but another died, and a third is missing.
It took 45 firefighters 30 minutes to control the blaze, which authorities said was caused by oil-soaked rags igniting in the garage.
