There’s No Place Like Home for the Kings
Chris Webber scored 27 points Sunday night and the Sacramento Kings remained unbeaten at home this season, defeating the Atlanta Hawks, 105-97.
Ahead by four points heading into the final period, Sacramento went on a 16-5 run. Bobby Jackson ended the run with a three-point basket, giving the Kings a 91-77 lead midway through the quarter.
In all, Jackson scored 23 points and had five steals for Sacramento, which is 4-0 at Arco Arena.
Despite a scoreless first half, Doug Christie finished with 19 points, eight rebounds and seven assists for the Kings. Peja Stojakovic made three three-point baskets and had 17 points and Vlade Divac added nine points, 10 rebounds and six assists.
Shareef Abdur-Rahim made 14 of 16 free throws and finished with 32 points and seven rebounds for Atlanta.
Glenn Robinson had 15 points and nine rebounds for the Hawks, who lost their third consecutive game, all on the road.
New Orleans 97, New York 91 -- Baron Davis took over in overtime when the Knicks didn’t have a point guard to defend him and led the Hornets to the victory in Madison Square Garden.
Davis scored five of his 24 points and had two of his seven assists in overtime, when the Hornets scored the final 10 points of the game. He shot 10 for 23 from the field as New Orleans won on the road for the first time this season.
With Charlie Ward sitting out because of a bruised leg, the Knicks were without a point guard in overtime after Howard Eisley fouled out late in regulation. Davis made the most of the situation because the Knicks had no one who could stay with him.
New York took a four-point lead early in overtime, but Davis scored on a drive, made a three-point shot and assisted on a layup by Stacey Augmon that gave New Orleans its first lead, 92-91.
For the Knicks, Allan Houston scored 27 but missed four of his five shots in overtime. Lee Nailon added 18 against his former team.
