Criminal Justice Office Chief Quits Over Probe
The interim director of the Governor’s Office of Criminal Justice Planning resigned Friday after being linked to an investigation of alleged corruption in San Joaquin County.
According to an FBI affidavit, N. Allen Sawyer was a partner in a failed Port of Stockton power plant deal with Sheriff Baxter Dunn and a former sheriff’s deputy accused of seeking money from developers in exchange for supporting their projects before a local water board.
“There’s no allegations against me at all,” Sawyer said. “I was a limited partner [and investor]. I was not a manager.”
