City to Begin Flushing Water Mains on Sunday
The city’s annual program to flush out its water mains begins Sunday and will continue for two weeks.
Camarillo workers will begin releasing water from fire hydrants to remove rust and other sediments from pipes starting at 9 p.m. Sunday. The maintenance program will continue weekdays from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. through June 14. Pressure may be reduced slightly during the flushing.
The program will not affect residents in Leisure Village or those served by the Camrosa, Pleasant Valley Mutual, Crestview or Cal-American water districts. City water officials say any discoloration found in the water does not pose a health risk.
But residents are advised to make sure the water is clear before doing laundry. The city’s Water Division will provide free rust remover to any resident affected by staining.
