Police Find Stolen Car Linked to Serial Rapist
Police said Thursday they have recovered a car stolen from a Los Alamitos woman by a man suspected of being the Belmont Shore rapist.
The beige 1987 Honda Accord was found abandoned in a Long Beach parking lot. The Orange County crime lab is examining it for evidence, said Capt. Todd Mattern, a spokesman for the Los Alamitos Police Department.
The car was stolen May 11 from a resident of the Royal Oak Mobile Home Park on Oak Street by a man suspected in the rape of another resident of the park a short time before.
Police said they believe the assailant was the Belmont Shore rapist, suspected in at least 10 attacks in Long Beach and Orange County since 1997.
