Shescape Can Do Without Seconds
Anybody who started a place parlay with Shescape on March 21 has a nice return on their investment right now.
Shescape, a 4-year-old Candyman Bee filly trained by Charles Treece for owners Eric Swain and Anthony Gray Jr., has been the runner-up three consecutive times.
She began her streak when two lengths behind Bay Wave as the 7-5 favorite on the night she was claimed by her current connections. Brought back a month later, she was second again, losing by a nose as the 4-5 favorite to Heads Or Tails Hal.
On May 3, she completed the exacta once more, missing by a neck to Just A Berry at 5-2 odds.
Shescape will try to break through with her third career victory and second of the current Los Alamitos meet in tonight’s sixth, a 41/2-furlong race for $2,000 fillies and mares.
The picks: 1. Real Mirage. 2. Vising. 3. Heza Quick Dash. 4. Riggin Lady. 5. One Big Love. 6. Shescape. 7. Shell Ha. 8. Firm Investment.
Four! In the first, single Real Mirage; use Vising and FC Star Trek in the second; Heza Quick Dash, Jjackson Champus and Strawflying Six in the third; and Riggin Lady, Silky Goose and Flores Wild Cat in the fourth.
Shots in the dark: Royal Centenario is a firster in the fifth debuting in a weak race for a winning barn (Adan Farias). Shania Fame will get Lasix and is back in with maidens in the seventh after chasing Lonely Moon Sign in a trial for the Kindergarten.
