Christian Right’s Support of Israel
Re “An Unholy Alliance in Support of Israel,” Opinion, May 19: When are people going to understand that it is not hateful when one has a belief that is contrary to others? The Christians honestly believe in their Gospel. They believe that in the final days Jesus will first show himself to the Jews and then they will know he is the Messiah and all will be well.
Do I believe in that? No. But as a Jew, I’m not insulted by another’s belief. It’s not going to happen, as far as I’m concerned, and yet I appreciate the respect Christians have toward me. Let Christians have their faith, and I will only judge people on how they treat me as a person. A healthy alliance does exist when both groups have the same interest at heart. If people are secure in their faith, or lack of faith, they should have nothing to fear from opposite beliefs.
