EBay Adds New Homes Auction
EBay Inc., the biggest Web auctioneer, created a category for new homes with real estate offered by homebuilders.
The company agreed with Builder Homesite Inc., a group of 30 builders, to list and promote thousands of properties across the U.S., EBay said. Terms weren’t disclosed.
Builder Homesite was formed in 2000 and runs the NewHomeSource.com Web site and has agreements to share its listings with other Internet sites.
About 9,000 listings of the 225,000 on NewHomeSource.com are featured on EBay and will be sold in a series of auctions beginning next month.
Shares of San Jose, Calif.-based EBay fell 11 cents to $56.21 on Nasdaq.
