* I will spend time with my dad. We will watch “Dinotopia.” We will go to the batting cages. We will go to the store. I will help him fix the truck.

* I would like to make a card decorated with airplanes. It would say, “Airplanes are fast; airplanes are slow; some fly high; some fly low; come with me to the Oshkosh Air Show!” And there would be two tickets to the Oshkosh Air Show inside.

* My dad likes motorcycles and sports, so I would like to get him some parts for his motorcycle so he could ride it. And I would get him a sports set with a basketball and a baseball and bat.

* If I could make my dad happy on his special day, I would let him watch all his favorite television shows. I would also bring him breakfast in bed. I would buy him some tools and do whatever he wants to do. I would play football with him too.

--Hailey, second grade

Welby Way Magnet School

West Hills

* I would like to wash the car. I would get a bucket of warm water and soap. I would get a hose and rinse off the dirt. I would clean the car and dry it.

--Alex, 8

El Rodeo Elementary

Beverly Hills

* I would like to make my dad breakfast, but not eggs, since he doesn’t like them. I would take him out to play golf. He could play for about an hour, then we would come home so he could watch golf on TV while I make nachos. At 8:30 we can go out to dinner and have a good time!
