Whitney’s Surapol Wins Title
Top-seeded Whitney High senior Chris Surapol defeated unseeded Harvard-Westlake senior Jesse Ferlianto, 7-5, 1-6, 6-2, to win the boys’ 18 division title of the 18th annual Anaheim Junior tournament Sunday at the Anaheim Tennis Center.
Calabasas teammates Celia Durkin and Monica Wiesener faced off in the girls’ 18 division final, with the unseeded Durkin upsetting fourth-seeded Wiesener, 6-4, 6-0.
Servite sophomore Jonathan Sanchez, top-seeded in boys’ 16s, defeated third-seeded Calabasas freshman Gary Sacks, 6-1, 7-5, for that division title.
