Jet Carrying Unscreened Bags Returns to LAX

A Spirit Airlines jetliner bound for Detroit with 89 passengers returned to Los Angeles International Airport on Friday after the pilot was told that nine pieces of baggage had not been screened.
When the plane got back to LAX, the baggage was examined on the tarmac.
The MD-80 series jet resumed the flight after a delay of about five hours.
