Barber Is Fired by Philadelphia
Coach Bill Barber was fired by the Philadelphia Flyers on Tuesday, after players blamed him for a first-round playoff loss to Ottawa.
“We just felt that there was no way of being able to heal the wounds that had developed between the coach and the players,” General Manager Bob Clarke said.

The league fined Vancouver General Manager Brian Burke, New York Islander General Manager Mike Milbury and Montreal Canadien Coach Michel Therrien $30,000 each for inappropriate comments to the media during the first round of the playoffs.
Detroit Coach Scotty Bowman was fined $10,000 for shoving a reporter. The Red Wings also were fined $25,000 for violating NHL media regulations.
