Seniors Discounted
Bob Dolan (“Internet-Savvy Seniors,” Letters, March 17) says Internet sites do not discriminate against senior citizens. One that does is United Airlines (www.ual.com).
United terminated its United Connection software last July. The software provided detailed information on schedules (considering all airlines between points A and B), lowest possible fares and available seating (by seat location). It had the ability to store one’s age and calculate senior fare discounts without even being asked.
Because I fly more than 100,000 miles per year, this is an important feature for me.
If I order tickets through the Web site, I cannot obtain my senior discount. That’s why I still use a travel agent to book reservations. She gets my discounts for me; www.ual.com doesn’t.
