Shredding Workers
Michael Ramirez’s cartoon (Commentary, March 21) of Arthur Andersen being shredded is missing one thing--a “Property of the Department of Justice” label on the shredder. Despite Andersen’s attempts to reform the auditing regulations and resolve its own issues, Atty. Gen. John Ashcroft’s indictment has landed a leveling blow to the once-proud accounting firm.
The Republicans’ attempt to bury “Enrongate” by allowing Enron to burn itself out and destroying Andersen is downright cruel to the workers who will lose their jobs. Shame on Congress for turning a blind eye to the thousands of working innocent affected by this mess.
