Fresh Snow Makes for a Halo of a Good Time
Nearly 1,800 people flapped their arms and legs in fresh snow on the Capitol mall in Bismarck, N.D., hoping to create a record for making the most simultaneous snow angels.
The event, which quickly degenerated into a huge snowball fight, was organized to promote a new exhibit for the state historical society. Bismarck broke a 108-year-old snowfall record Wednesday, when 5.4 inches fell the first day of spring.
To officially mark a record, the state historical society recorded the name, address and age of each participant. The list will be shipped to Guinness Book of Records headquarters in London.
