Barbeques Galore Ltd., an Irvine chain of specialty retail stores, reported that net income for the fourth quarter dropped 57% to $600,000, or 14 cents a share, from $1.4 million, or 30 cents a share, a year ago. Sales dipped 3% to $50.5 million. The company attributed the lower results to sagging consumer confidence, coupled with a shift in demand to lower-priced items.

* Germany utility RWE said it has agreed to buy gas and electric company Innogy for $4.4 billion in what would be RWE’s second major acquisition in Britain.
