CBS UPN Share and Share Alike
CBS took over management of the UPN network in January, and some of the first tangible evidence of that relationship shows up this week.
This Friday at 8 p.m., UPN will televise back-to-back episodes of “The Amazing Race 2,” repeating installments of the CBS series that will have been broadcast on the parent network tonight and Wednesday. Each Friday thereafter, encores of “Amazing Race 2” will be paired on UPN with “Under One Roof” --a new so-called “reality” series featuring families competing for a beachfront home.
In addition, “The March to Madness,” the first special produced by CBS for UPN, will be broadcast March 27, days before the NCAA basketball championship Final Four, which airs, of course, on CBS.
Though officials at the two networks, which are both owned by Viacom, have stressed that they don’t intend to turn UPN into CBS Jr., additional cross-pollination between the networks is being discussed. UPN will also begin televising episodes of the short-lived CBS series “Wolf Lake,” starring Lou Diamond Phillips, in April.
