Gunman Robs Woman, Shoots at Police
Police on Saturday were searching for a man who robbed $2,000 from an elderly woman and pistol-whipped her before exchanging gunfire with officers in Boyle Heights, authorities said.
The man, believed to be in his 20s, may have had an older accomplice, said LAPD Officer Don Cox.
The man exchanged gunfire with two bicycle officers near the intersection of Soto Street and Michigan Avenue shortly before 4 p.m., Cox said. No officers were injured in the shootout, and it was believed that the suspect also escaped uninjured, he said.
