Man Pleads Guilty to ’89 Killing of Co-Worker

A man extradited from New York last summer pleaded guilty Friday to voluntary manslaughter in the fatal shooting of a female co-worker outside a Koreatown restaurant more than 12 years ago.
Jong Pal Kim, 38, admitted shooting Kyong Hee Lee on Nov. 12, 1989, in the parking lot of a restaurant on Western Avenue, according to Deputy Dist. Atty. Cheri Lewis.
Kim, who will likely be sentenced March 27, faces 13 years in state prison.
