Suspected Rebels Kill 13 Bus Passengers
Suspected Islamic rebels killed 13 bus passengers and wounded nine on the outskirts of the capital, Algiers, in Algeria’s third such attack this month, medical sources and survivors said.
The bus was on the southern outskirts of Algiers when five or six attackers appeared, first shooting the driver dead, then spraying the passengers with automatic rifle fire, survivors and state radio said.
The attack brought to more than 600 the number of civilians slain in bombings and other attacks in the last six months, according to official and newspaper reports.
