Not Much to Figure
Having just seen “The Allergist’s Wife” at the Ahmanson, I can save L.A. theatergoers some time and money (“You Figure It Out,” by Jan Breslauer, June 23). There is no meaning to this mediocre play with a fine cast of actors. The few laughs in the second act are hardly worth the effort of fighting downtown traffic to attend a play.
The play is a gross stereotypical portrayal of a dysfunctional New York Jewish family. Surely, there are better quality works available for a performance at our city’s premier theater setting.

It’s a pity that Jan Breslauer in her otherwise excellent piece neglected to mention that Tony Roberts, who plays the allergist, is the son of Kenneth Roberts, a noted CBS radio announcer and commentator in the World War II era; and that co-star Michele Lee, if my memory serves me well, is an alumna of L.A.’s Hamilton High School.
