Balloonist Headed for Africa on Global Trip
From Times Wire Reports
Adventurer Steve Fossett raced across the South Atlantic, nearly 70% of the way to the finish line in his bid to make the first solo nonstop balloon trip around the globe.
His control center at Washington University in St. Louis said he was “happy as a clam,” though it warned that he faced a final big hurdle in thunderstorms likely to boil up off South Africa’s cape.
Fossett left western Australia on June 19.
