2 TV Cameramen File Lawsuit Against LAPD
Two cameramen for Spanish-language television have sued the Los Angeles Police Department, alleging they were struck by rubber bullets while covering rioting that followed the Lakers’ victory in the NBA finals last year.
Juan Guerra, 39, and Jorge Diaz, 32, allege in their federal civil rights lawsuit that they were filming the disturbances outside Staples Center when police officers fired several rubber bullets at them, knocking them to the ground and injuring them.
They said their press passes were clearly visible, and they were not interfering with police. The LAPD did not comment.
