Foreign ministers from throughout the Americas, meeting in Bridgetown, Barbados, signed a treaty to fight terrorism.

“We face a common threat to our security and prosperity, and together we have responded,” Secretary of State Colin L. Powell told the General Assembly of the Organization of American States.

Thirty of the OAS members approved the Inter-American Convention Against Terrorism, which is intended to prevent the financing of terrorism and toughen border controls.
