Tereshuk Takes Chapman Job

Tom Tereshuk, who guided Villa Park High baseball teams to two Southern Section and three Century League titles in four years, has resigned his coaching and teaching positions to become head coach at Chapman College.

Tereshuk replaces Rex Peters, who left Chapman after nine seasons, with a 258-130-2 record, to take over at UC Davis.

Villa Park’s baseball teams were 89-26 under Tereshuk, beating West Torrance, 5-1, for the Division III title in 2000 and Canyon Country Canyon, 3-2, in the Division II championship game last spring.

In other coaching changes:

* Jon Strauss, who guided Glendale College to consecutive Western State Conference Southern Division baseball championships, has resigned to become an assistant coach at Loyola Marymount.

Richard Reed, a former men’s basketball player and graduate assistant coach for the women’s basketball team at La Verne, has been hired as a men’s assistant at Loyola Marymount. Reed spent the last two seasons as an assistant at Cal Poly Pomona.
