Man Held on Terrorist Charge in Times Incident
A 31-year old man who ran into the Los Angeles Times on Monday claiming to be carrying a bomb, forcing the evacuation of the newspaper building, is being held on suspicion of making terrorist threats and an outstanding warrant for marijuana possession, police said Tuesday.
Los Angeles police identified the man as Frederick Bernard Cheaves, who was being jailed pending a court appearance.
Cheaves was arrested at 9:45 p.m. after entering the parking garage on 2nd Street and telling a guard he had a bomb in his bag, police said. The bag contained only papers.
