Divorce, American-Style
As a direct result of Sept. 11, former New York City Mayor Rudolph Giuliani now earns so much from speaking fees that he can afford a divorce settlement that includes $1,140 per month for his dog (“Giuliani, Wife Reach Divorce Settlement,” July 11). That’s $13,680 a year. The average per capita income in Afghanistan is about $200. Do the math. One American dog equals 68 Afghan humans. No wonder the rest of the world resents our lifestyle so much.
