Countrywide, AME Church to Join Forces
Countrywide Home Loans and the fifth district of the African Methodist Episcopal Church will join in an effort to expand home ownership in California and a dozen other states.
The partnership, which will be announced today at a religious conference in Ontario, represents the largest agreement between Calabasas-based Countrywide and a faith-based organization.
The company’s goal is to generate $30 million of home loans over the next two years, a spokeswoman said. The lender will sponsor educational workshops and offer other programs through its local branches intended to show renters how to become owners.
