Production at factories, mines and utilities increased for a sixth consecutive month, jumping by 0.8% in June, the largest monthly increase since October 1999, the Federal Reserve reported. It was better than the 0.5% many analysts were expecting.
Output increased in June for automobiles and parts, home electronics and computers and office equipment. Declines were reported in appliances, furniture and carpeting.
