Air Ticket Sales Post Year’s First Gain
A milestone in the recovery of air travel since Sept. 11 was reached in May, when U.S. travel agents logged more in airline ticket sales than during the same month last year, according to the Airline Reporting Corp. The 1% gain was the first year-over-year increase this year.
Air fares remained lower, however, by an average of 21% for U.S. travel and 6% for international travel compared with May 2001.
