* Stamped With a National Character: 19th Century American Color Plate Books (Huntington Library, Art Collections and Botanical Gardens, 1151 Oxford Road, San Marino, [626] 405-2141). Opening Friday is an exhibit on the history and development of the American color plate book with illustrated books from the 1800s. Among the works on display will be the chromotypograph at left by Howard Pyle from an 1882 edition of “The Lady of Shalott” by Alfred Lord Tennyson. Ends May 26.
