Stanford Streaks Past Struggling California
Nicole Powell had 12 points and 13 rebounds for her ninth double-double of the season as third-ranked Stanford beat California, 79-52, Wednesday night at Palo Alto for its 13th consecutive victory.
Cori Enghusen added 15 points for the Cardinal (21-1, 11-0 Pacific 10).
LaTasha O’Keith scored 14 points to lead California (6-13, 1-10), which lost its third in a row.
The victory was Stanford’s 16th in the last 17 meetings with the Golden Bears and avenged last year’s loss to Cal at home.
No. 9 Kansas State 80, No. 14 Texas 76--Laurie Koehn scored 28 points at Austin, Texas to help propel the Wildcats (20-2, 8-1 Big 12) to a double-overtime victory over the Longhorns (14-5, 6-3). Stacy Stephens led Texas with 33 points.
No. 10 Baylor 74, Nebraska 62--Sheila Lambert scored 18 points for the Bears (17-3, 5-3 Big 12), who converted 27 of 33 free throws in a victory at Waco, Texas. Nebraska fell to 12-9, 2-6.
No. 13 Texas Tech 77, Texas A&M; 55--Jia Perkins scored 22 points to lead the Red Raiders (13-6, 5-4 Big 12) past the Aggies (10-10, 2-6) at College Station, Texas.
Michigan St. 58, No. 15 Wisconsin 57--Candace Jackson made four free throws in the final 1:12 as the Spartans (14-7, 4-6 Big Ten) beat the Badgers (16-5, 7-4) at Madison, Wis.
No. 16 Iowa St. 87, Missouri 61--Tracy Gahan and Angie Welle scored 23 points apiece at Ames, Iowa, to help the Cyclones (16-5, 4-5 Big 12) hand the Tigers (12-7, 3-5) their fourth loss in a row.
No. 20 Boston College 76, West Virginia 51--Clare Droesch had 17 points to help the Eagles (16-4, 7-2 Big East) stop the Mountaineers (11-8, 3-5) at Boston.
