From Times Staff and Wire Reports
A small private plane crashed Wednesday while trying to land at a Marine Corps base, killing one and injuring another.
The plane, registered in Canada, apparently ran out of fuel while flying over La Jolla and requested permission to land at Marine Corps Air Station Miramar, Lt. Joshua Rushing said. It crashed just short of a runway at the base.
The injured victim was transported to a hospital, but details were not immediately available.
