Arthur the Bear’s New Home Will Have Hot Tub
A gimpy black bear that became a celebrity in the city late last year will be moved to new accommodations in Sacramento County--complete with a hot tub.
Arthur, a 300-pound black bear, languished for weeks with shotgun pellets in an arthritic hip before public protest prompted the state Fish and Game Department to capture the bruin and start treatment.
Spokesman Steve Martarano said the bear will have recovered sufficiently to be moved in about a month to the Performing Animal Welfare Society, a wildlife center in Galt, Calif. His 1,000-square-foot enclosure will include a hot tub to help ease lingering arthritic pain.
