CSU System Had Record Year for Fund-Raising
SACRAMENTO — The California State University system announced Tuesday that it took in a record $916.4 million from private sources last year, up 4% from the previous year.
The figure includes more than $248 million in gifts from alumni, parents, foundations and corporations, with the rest from sources such as research grants, contract work and endowment income. Cal Poly San Luis Obispo raised the most of any Cal State campus, receiving $43.2 million in private support, officials said.
Fund-raising has become a priority for public universities in recent years, as many institutions try to supplement often-shrinking levels of state support.
