Swimmers Urged to Stay Out of Water for 3 Days
Orange County officials issued a health advisory Tuesday, recommending that swimmers and surfers stay out of the water at local beaches for 72 hours following the latest winter storm.
Environmental Health Division spokeswoman Monica Mazur said the warning was prompted by high bacteria levels in waters along the coast caused by urban runoff. Bacteria levels exceed acceptable standards up and down the coast, she said.
Also on Tuesday, officials closed a beach area in San Clemente following the spill of 25 gallons of sewage from a public restroom at North Beach.
