Girl’s 9-Year Captor Gets 14 Years in Prison
From Times Wire Reports
A Japanese court has sentenced a man to 14 years in prison for kidnapping a child and holding her captive in his bedroom for nine years.
Nobuyuki Sato, 39, had pleaded guilty to abducting the girl--then 9--and holding her for nine years and two months. Hospital employees found her in Sato’s home Jan. 28, 2000.
Sato held the girl in his room on the second floor and threatened her with a knife. Later, she was too cowed to attempt an escape.
