Northwest to Increase Miles for Free Travel

Northwest Airlines said it will increase the minimum number of award miles needed for free travel and will become the first major U.S. carrier to allow frequent fliers to redeem them during peak-travel dates previously off-limits through the WorldPerks program.
Eagan, Minn.-based Northwest is dropping discounts it offered for passengers who chose to redeem award miles during off-peak periods.
