Chicago’s police superintendent announced steps to combat the city’s rising number of murders, the highest of all U.S. cities last year with 666.

Supt. Terry Hillard said officers would more aggressively pursue outstanding warrants and parole violators, target gangs and drug dealers, seize vehicles in which guns and narcotics are found, and increase their presence in neighborhoods with high homicide rates.
