Mother Whose Children Died in Fire Is Arrested
A 24-year-old woman whose three children died in a blaze Monday was arrested as she left a funeral home on Friday.
Maria Delcarmen Aguilera’s 7-year-old son, 5-year-old daughter and 3-year-old daughter died after she left them alone in their house.
Aguilera is charged with three counts of felony child endangerment, which could result in 18 years in prison if she is convicted. Bail was set at $100,000.
Stockton Police Department spokesman Doug Anderson said officers struggled with the decision of whether to arrest Aguilera before or after the children’s funeral.
