Man Kills Himself in Front of Courthouse
From Staff and Wire Reports
A father who may have been despondent about a court ruling on overdue child support killed himself at the entrance of the downtown courthouse.
The county’s medical examiner’s office identified the man as Derrick Miller, 43, of San Diego.
Witnesses told police that Miller was carrying court documents Monday morning as he walked up to a security guard and began screaming. He then pulled a handgun from his waistband and fatally shot himself in the head, authorities said.
