GAO Subpoenas Pfizer CEO on Pricing
The U.S. General Accounting Office has subpoenaed Pfizer Inc. Chief Executive Henry A. McKinnell, demanding information on prices the drug maker reported to Medicaid, the agency said.
The GAO, Congress’ investigative arm, is investigating drug makers’ compliance with reporting requirements under Medicaid. The agency requested pricing information from 11 drug companies in July. Pfizer was the only company that didn’t turn over those records, citing concerns about confidentiality, the GAO said.
Pfizer did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
