Airliner Redirected After Threat of Bomb
A Canadian jetliner was redirected and a man briefly detained after a woman telephoned WestJet Airlines and accused him of carrying a bomb, police said.
Flight 42 from Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, to Edmonton, Alberta, was carrying 124 passengers and six crew members Monday when it was sent back to Saskatoon.
Eight firetrucks and eight police cruisers circled the Boeing 737 after it landed.
A 20-year-old man was arrested and then released with no charges filed, a police spokesman said. No bomb was found. The female caller had been identified and might face charges, police said.
The flight continued to Edmonton after a luggage search.
