Habitat for Humanity Gets New Director
Habitat for Humanity of Ventura County will usher in the new year with a new executive director.
Annette Houchin, 38, who worked as the nonprofit group’s business manager the last five years, will replace Martin Kircher, who resigned in December after 10 months on the job.
To cut costs, Houchin also will continue to manage day-to-day finances. Like many Ventura County nonprofits, the Oxnard-based group saw a dip in donations after the Sept. 11 attacks.
Habitat for Humanity has built homes for 23 families in Ventura County since receiving its first land donation in 1993. The group’s latest project is a 22-home development on 4 1/2 acres in Piru.
