Two Students Win Bolsa Chica Award
Two students have won the Bolsa Chica Land Preserve’s fifth-annual Kennedy-Kolpin Bolsa Chica Conservation Award.
Marabeth Madsen, an environmental studies student at UC Santa Cruz, and Barbara “Babs” McCoy, a marine biology student at Cal State Long Beach, were recognized for helping restore native coastal sage-scrub in the 1,200-acre preserve.
The drive to restore native plants to the preserve is overseen by Bolsa Chica Stewards. The award is named for group founders Kim Kennedy and Thierry Kolpin.
