Missing in Action
Re “Family Torn Asunder in Battle With Government,” Dec. 28: Poor Ana Maria, Violeta and Artemisa Tecla Parra. They became urban terrorists (“revolutionaries”) and wound up “missing.” What a surprise! My heart aches for them because, after all, they only joined when “a small band of leftist revolutionaries turned to kidnapping, robbery and violence in hopes of overthrowing an entire system of government.”
Violeta tried to murder the agent who was arresting her . . . and then she disappeared. Go figure! Instead of invoking sympathy, your series of articles regarding the “missing” teaches only that people suffer the consequences for their choices and their actions.
