Woman Is Held in Robbery at Bank Branch
A Thousand Oaks woman was arrested Wednesday in the robbery of a Port Hueneme bank, authorities said.
Cheryle Anne Young, 52, allegedly robbed Santa Barbara Bank & Trust in the 600 block of Channel Island Boulevard about 3 p.m., FBI Special Agent Brent Robbins said.
The robber handed a teller a note demanding a large sum of money and then escorted the teller around the bank to collect the cash, Robbins said. No one was injured and no weapon was seen.
Officers arrested Young near the bank, and the money was recovered, police said. Robbins said Young is also a suspect in a March 2000 heist at Hawthorne Savings & Loan in Westlake Village.
This is the fourth county bank robbery this year and the second time in 12 months the same bank branch was robbed.
